About the airline
KLM (www.klm.com), otherwise knowns as Royal Dutch Airlines, is the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands. Founded in October 1919, it is the oldest airline in the world, flying to over 140 destinations around the world. The airline’s headquarters are based in Amstelveen, with its primary air hub situated at Schipol International Airport in Amsterdam. The airline flies under the slogan “Journeys of Inspiration”. The merger with Air France took place in 2003, yet both airlines retained their respective brand identities and fleet liveries. Within Spain, the airline flies to Barcelona, Alicante, Bilbao, Ibiza, Las Palmas de Mallorca, Malaga, Valencia and Madrid. UK destinations include Aberdeen, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Durham London and Edinburgh.
Middle Eastern and Far Eastern destinations include Manama in Bahrain, Dhaka in Bangladesh, Rangoon in Burma, Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Xiamen in China, Bangkok in Thailand, Taipei City in Taiwan, Dubai in the UAE, as well as Delhi, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Mumbai and Kolkata in India.
KLM’s transatlantic routes include flights to Buenos Aires in Argentina, Rio in Brazil, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa in Canada, as well as Cali in Colombia, Quito in Ecuador and Lima in Peru.
Being an international airline, KLM’s luggage allowance may vary dependent on individual flight routes and codeshare partners’ requirements. As a general rule, Economy Class passengers are entitled to carrying a single piece of checked luggage not weighing more than 23kg, and not exceeding a total dimension of 158cm (Length + Width + Depth).
Flying Blue Silver, Gold and Platinum cardholders, as well as SkyTeam Elite members and and Elite Plus members can check in up to 2 pieces of luggage each not weighing more than 23kg, with the same dimensions restriction per bag as outlined above.
Unlike most other international airlines offering only Economy Class and Business Class cabins, KLM offers passengers a choice between, World Business Class, Europe Business Class, Economy Comfort Class and Economy Class, depending on the routes you’ll be travelling on.
